Musashi Dining Bar Restaurant - Haymarket - Sydney, Australia

Musashi Dining Bar Restaurant

I've walked past this restaurant many times if not hundreds when I was working close to there and it was not until a few months back that I finally stepped foot into this restaurant for my best friends birthday. It serves authentic Japanese at relatively decent prices.

The interior is modern and decorated nicely. The staff greet you with the usual Japanese chant as you walk to your seats. The Japanese are so friendly and it makes you feel welcomed.

Their menu has a lot of sushi, sashimi and salmon dishes but they also offer a variety of other Japanese dishes. I've read and heard that their seafood is very fresh and you should try it if you like your raw seafood. I'm not a fan of sushi and raw foods but my friends thoroughly enjoyed it.

The 'Spicy Soft Shell Crab ($12.00)' was cooked tempera style with a light and crispy coating. Had that hint of spiciness which was delicious. It was served over a bed of mashed potatoes. I've never seen it served this way in Japanese cuisine but went well with the crab.

The 'Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pancake) $12.00' was on the specials menu. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My favourite dish of the night and it just had that flavour and crunch I was after. Could taste the abundance of shredded cabbage in it and I love my cooked cabbage which probably says why I liked it so much. It was dressed with mayo and soya sauce. Apologies for the blurry photo. I must have been too eager to dig in.

The 'Sushi and Sashimi Combination ($32.00)' was beautiful in presentation. It came with 2 pieces of pacific oyster, 6 pieces sashimi, 6 pieces sushi, 2 pieces small sushi roll and 1 piece sushi roll. This was polished off in an instant.

'Waygu Teriyaki Steak ($23.00)' was served on a hot plate and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. The wagyu was soft and cooked medium, put on top of a layer of bean sprouts. Side of vegetables and potato mash gave a good balance.

We also ordered the 'Chicken Salad ($9.90)' which we waited,  waited and waited for but nothing came to out to the table. We were pretty much pretty full and saving our stomach for dessert so we asked them to take it off from the menu. They happily did so.

Definitely would recommend this Japanese restaurant for their awesome meals. Will be there to try out their lunch menu and dessert in the near future.
