Marrickville Pork Roll - Marrickville - Sydney, Australia

Marrickville Pork Roll

There is currently a lot of hype surrounding these Vietnamese rolls from this little joint in Marrickville. I am a huge fan of pork rolls and am on the quest to find the best.

We're here early on a Sunday morning and it isn't very busy. A steady flow of customers but no visible line.

An abundance of fresh ingredients line the cabinets.

The 'Pork Roll - Banh Mi Thit ($4.00) is a bargin considering the size of the bread roll. It is packed to the brim and they are very generous with their fillings.

The bread is ultra crusty, the ingredients are fresh and the sauce is mouth watering. The spicy chilli gives it that extra flavour kick.

In you're in the area, then definitely drop by and grab one of their rolls.

Golden Hot Bread - Cronulla - Sydney, Australia.

Golden Hot Bread

I've been craving for a Vietnamese pork roll the whole week. On my weekly morning walk around Cronulla beach, I stumbled upon a Vietanmese bakery on the main shopping strip. I could smell the fresh bread being baked and I knew I had to try it.

I know, I know what you might be thinking. How could the shire have a decent pork roll place? Well, you're wrong! Having tried many great tasting pork roll's around Sydney, I didn't have high expectations considering I've had quite a few pork rolls in the area that didn't taste like the real thing.

I opted for the 'Pork Roll with Chilli ($4.50)' which comes with 3 types of pork meat, carrots, onion, coriander, spring onion and chill. The crustry baguette is brushed with asian style butter and pate. Once all the ingredients are put in, a special soya sauce is put on top.

On my first bite, I could taste how fresh the ingredients were. The bread was crunchy and everything matched well.

Definitely will be coming here lots more. Not only are the prices decent but the bread tastes great.

Phuong Special Vietnamese - Chinatown - Sydney, Australia

Phuong Special Vietnamese

The little shop is located at the entry to Eating World in Chinatown. I get to the store a bit after 12 and the lunch time queue starts to form. There is a selection of rolls ranging from pork rolls, chicken rolls, pork skin rolls and meat ball rolls which all fall under the $5.00 mark. The bread isn't baked on premises as the space is very small.

I go with the most popular option which is the 'Banh Mi Tit' also known as the 'Pork Roll ($4.30)' which is very cheap considering food prices in the City can be steep. Chilli is optional and free of charge.

The roll is crusty and fresh and the inside is spread with Vietnamese style butter and pate. Within the roll contains the usual ingredients consisting of cold meats, shredded carrot, cucumber, coriander, spring onion and red onions put together with their special sauce and soya sauce. It tastes fantastic but can't be compared to my favourite one in Cabramatta but still does a good job of delivering the authentic pork roll.

So if you're after a quick lunch in the City, drop by to get the real deal.
