New Shanghai

Friend M's aunt recommended this place and here we are, in the area known as dumpling central. They take bookings so best to book ahead if you're arriving after 6pm. We arrived slightly before 6pm and the tables were filling up pretty fast and a queue started forming shortly.
New Shanghai has been recently renovated and the internal décor is nice and clean.
Just a word of warning, the portion sizes are fairly large compared to other dumpling joints so don't over order like we did.
My favourite of the night was definitely the 'Pan Fried Pork Bun' which crispy and pan fried to perfection. The juices were oozing out once you bite into it.
'Xia Long Bao' is a mini parcel of pork mince in a thin pleated pastry casing filled with juicy soup. Nice but the pastry was a bit thicker than the ones at Din Tai Fung.
'Shallot Pancake' was way too oily and we could barely taste the shallots.
The 'Fujian Fried Rice' was refreshing with seafood and vegetables stir-fried on top of soft fried rice.
'Stir-fried Chinese Rice Cake with X.O Sauce and Shredded Pork' was a weird combination we weren't really use to. The rice cake is chewy and we think it taste similar to those Korean rice cakes.
'Twisted Fried Buns with Condensed Milk'. Cooked like how it should be and dipped in sweet milk.
Plus one pot of 'Jasmine Tea'. The teapot is so cute.
and 'Blended Ice Tea'.
Filled to the brim and it only cost us $62.00 for a very satisfying meal.
We will be back.

TGIF! A bad end to my working week but this does not spoil the mood for a nice catch up dinner with friends.
